About Us
The
Company
My
company, Ceramics on Wheels, has been serving the Tri-County Schools,
Parks and Recreation for the past 13 years. We have brought
our
crafts into hundreds of schools, serving thousands of children,
including Special Needs programs such as ARC and The Most
Programs.
The kids enjoy the
hands-on crafts, to be able to express themselves individually through
colors, design, and various techniques. They are experiencing
and
discovering self expression and choices to create their very own
personalized art projects without the influence of their families or
fear of doing it wrong. Our motto is, "It's art, it's yours,
and
it's GREAT!"
President and Founder of Ceramics on Wheels Phyllis Robbins
I founded The Original Ceramics
on Wheels, Inc., in June of 1998, with
the intent of starting over as a single mom, working from home, and
being able to have a flexible, fun job part time. I was
involved
in my children's school, their aftercare activities and was caring for
my mom, who had advanced Alzheimer's disease.
From
the first day, I loved being a mobile business bringing crafts to
kids in schools in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach counties. We
are
an approved vendor for all three school districts, Parks and
Recreation, YMCAs, ASP, ARC, PTAs, SAAC, Girl Scouts, hotels, assisted
living communities, churches, synagogues, special needs and many more.
Our birthday parties are always a favorite for both the
parents
and the kids! I still make the molds and the figurines to be
painted,
and we have added a new craft every two years. I have had the
privilege to be hugged and thanked endlessly on this job by people that
come up to my waist and I can't think of a better way to spend one hour
at a time.
My intent now has changed.
My children have grown up, my mom
passed on, and I am working to reach as many children as possible to
have fun with art, to be creative, and to keep their creations as a
past reminder of a day in their childhood! Some children have
never had the opportunity to paint before we visited their school.
Some of the children can't get past the joy of washing their
paintbrush and watching the water change color. No matter
what
the joy is, I am there sharing it with them. I feel blessed
every
day I can make a child smile. I like making those amazing
teachers smile too!
